For some reason, this reminds me of Fisherman's Horizon from FFVIII. I think it has similar instrumentation and the same laid-back feel.

WTF illusion of gaia ripoff?
When I heard this on the playlist I was sure it was illusion of Gaia. This is a blantant rip off of the town theme in Itory, The Hidden Village.

My fav series too. THE cutscene in the second made me cry, well, too much. Aaand, lets just forget that the third chapter never existed.

I played through most of the first game and watched my stepdad lose to the final boss over and over again lol, I played through a chunk of covenant but never beat either game myself, but both games are definitely 2 of my favorite jRPG's as well. I will go back and finish them, some day

I've tried getting hold of it, but where I live, it goes for about 700$, while Shadow Heart: From the New World goes for a tenner :/ Really frustrating, as I've heard such nice things about this! Hoping for a digital release...
happy to see this game on here. shadow hearts was my first ps 2 rpg, covenant my favorite.
my fav jrpg series(well, I personally don't count the third). I wont' spoiler that for anyone, but anyone who has played it knows what i'm talking about...THAT moment in covenant made me cried so damn much. The ending, too. great characters, storyline, music...everything feels great in this game. the only flaw of the first one was the outdated graphics, wich is SPLENDID in the sequel.

This track has a sentimental 80s love ballad feel to it. Great pick as usual. You can never go wrong with the Shadow Hearts soundtracks!
There's Kirby 64 factory theme. I always thought that sounded kinda lab-ish. It's on his list too.
Still haven't played the series, but did always admire the soundtrack that it has. It is with these steps that I am getting closer to finally try it. Also, thanks for the advice in which row to play these games.

I remember when I first subscribed around BVGM 700/900... He introduced me to a ton of great games I wouldn't have known about otherwise. Xenoblade, Radiant Historia, I wouldn't have even known about Mighty No.9's Kickstarter if I wasn't subscribed to him.
Recently I turned that game on again to show my friend my +10 year old savestate. The real sad thing however is that I was completely lost and totally forgot how to play the game, or where to even start with ;_;
I've beaten SH1+2, I preferred 1 despite 2 having improvements in graphics and combat. I also liked the cast like yourself. Never played 3, heard it wasn't as good.
I've always wanted to play this game. I played the first Shadow Hearts and I absolutely loved it. From what I've heard, this game only improved upon the first.
I have Covenant, but I won't play it until I can play Shadow Hearts. Problem is they're both rather hard to find in person. I actually got Shadow Hearts Covenant by having my Gamestop ship it from across the country(U.S). Waited 3 weeks. I'll say it's gonna be worth it even if I ultimately shipping, game, and tax had to pay around $90 to get it. I make this a response comment because frankly I never would've discovered this series(or many others)without this channel. Thank you.

This is actually like my favourite PS2 RPG and I played it entirely by chance. I enjoyed the third game just fine (even if not quite close to as good), and finally went back to the first game too, not too long ago actually. It really pains me to see the developer essentially vanish, I know they were like sold into Mistwalker or something at some point, or at least helped with Lost Odyssey, but I feel the systems were an imitation at best.

Man, I sure missed out on a lot of stellar RPG's being born as late as I was. Thanks for educating me on titles I would otherwise never hear of Supra.
It's a very underlooked game, unfortunately. If you're interested in playing it, I really recommend playing its direct prequel first, some of the major plot points will make a lot more sense. Just watching this game's opening on YouTube makes me realize how much I miss this series.
Yuri's my favorite protagonist in a jRPG (an anti-hero done right), the game has an outstanding roster of memorable characters, the soundtrack is composed by 3 awesome composers (Hirota, Mitsuda and Ito), the battle system is engaging, the story is a perfect blend of mature, horror and humor that actually works, it takes place on Earth in a unique way in the early 20th century, blood pumping cutscenes and a great variety of intelligent villains. This is why SH: Covenant is one my favorites ever.
