the vocal section reminds me a bit of the Attack on Titan opening.
This ends up being my favorite in the series, with Ys 2 and Oath in Felghana tied for second. Still, there are a lot of Ys games I still need to play, like all the handheld exclusives.
Great game, though it's quite unbalanced regarding the characters. Yuna is definitely weaker than Hugo and Toal is just uber. Not to mention that Toal has to go up and down the annex just one time instead a quadrillion time like the others.

I highly recommend the Ark. Played it around 2 years ago, it was my first Ys game and made me a fan of the series.
well Ys I and II chronicles is awesome but I dont think it's better than Origin, not even close. My ranking for the series would be(atleast of the games I played) Ys Seven=Ys Origin>Ys Oath>Ys I and II>Ys Ark of Napishtim
I think that Oath has a better story too. I think Ys 1 and 2 complete is the best overall, even though the combat is more simple it's still really, really fun.
Yeah. I agree. Personally my favorites are 1 and 2 complete, for PSP, and then Oath, Seven, Origin, and finally the others are all somewhere after these.

Well the only thing you listed that I think felghana has better over origin is the boss fights. However Ys Origin is a better game imo, it feels somewhat like the castlevania symphony of the night of the ys series. It is right up there alongside ys seven as my favourites in the series.

The notation and intensity is reminding me of a recent anime called "Attack on Titan," for some reason..
It may help to know that Origin had a rushed development during its original release in 2006. If you want to hear how the music was SUPPOSED to sound (more on the level of Felghana's samples than Napishtim's synth), I'd recommend you check out the Super Arrange Version album.

I bought a used copy of PS2 Napishtim but it tends to freeze... I hope they make a PC/Steam version someday.
Same here. The whole game being in a tower was ok to me since it was an absurdly large tower. Bosses and music were same quality or a little better IMO. I felt a lot more invested in the story for all three characters too, maybe since they could talk (nothing against Adol or anything, but... still). Still, both games are awesome, and their soundtracks are top notch.
Not yet, but I'll get it eventually. I also want to play The Ark of Napishtim.

Interesting opinion. Most of the stuff that you find to be flaws are actually to me positive aspects xD. Both awesome games nevertheless.
I recently found out that Oath in Felghana is a remake of Ys 3 since I watched someone play the latter. Seems all the Ys games have great music.

I much prefered Ys Oath in Felghana's 12 hours campaign than this game's 3x8 hours campaign. While each of the 3 characters have a unique fighting style, it ended up being way too redundant since their campaigns are mostly the same except for a couple bosses and the story. It's inferior to Oath in almost every way (the bosses, the music, the fact that you play the whole game inside a tower, etc.). Still, this series' battle system is as fun as ever. Good game, but not on Oath's level.
