At first I thought it was going to be the Klaymen theme you posted waaaaaay back. It begins with that same lilting feeling. Great track though.
The music really makes these games incredible. I may just have to replay Rayman Legends soon. I always did love wild west music :s.

1:00 - 1:04 reminds me of another song, not morricone-ish or even a western song. I can't figure out what song it reminds me of and it's freaking me out
I'm guessing Land of the Livid Dead is the name of the level in the game, which is why I put it in the description, but Land of Dead World is this theme's title in the official soundtrack.

This level is do fucking hard :( It took me ages, when it got to the western music I was screwed :L it took hundreds of attempt.

I've watched an LP of the game (JoshJepson and SuperJeenius) ,and I'm pretty sure that only the western chase part plays in the level.

Morricone-esque music is always so good.
This is the song played during the hidden level of the game, where you fight the "last boss".
This isn't as hard as Rayman on the PS1, except for the last level and some bonus levels, but it is a very good modern 2D platformer. Definitely has a lot of the strange stuff that Rayman games are known for.

I'm shocked this is the first entry from this game on the list! I highly suggest this game, and certainly can say from the demo on Wii U Legends may possibly be even better! The Challenges DLC already available in eshop is mind blowingly awesome.
This will go on the history of 2D platforming as one of the most ball-busting difficult final levels ever. Land of the Livid Dead will be meeting Scrap Brain Zone and Tubular soon.
I finished the game recently, cooping all the way through with my brother. We had a blast! I really recommend the game: It is challenging, fun, and has a really gorgeous art style. This level in particular will challenge you as an old school game would.

One of those games I still need to play. I have no idea why I didn't buy it cheap on Steam during the various sales, but I won't make the same mistake next time. This theme itself is pretty varied: I find the voices from 0:40 to 1:00 a bit annoying (I'm sure they wouldn't bother me ingame), then at 1:00 comes my favorite part, I love the chorus. Then at 1:40 we have a western chasing theme that's also very enjoyable. It seems like Morricone was the obvious inspiration!
