The melody in this song is similar to Ready Steady Go, one of the openings for Fullmetal Alchemist.

This song... this fucking song... the only thing worth a damn in Sonic 06 was the music. This song however... is the equivalent of... eargasm. It was worth playing 06 just to hear this for the first time while playing a game. Then I started using youtube to listen to music while playing games. Have you ever played Sonic 2's Death Egg with this playing. Its great.

As terrible as the 3d sonic games have mostly been (sonic adventure 1 and 2 were pretty good), the soundtracks have always been quite awesome. I actually like a lot of music from this game.
This is great, but an even worse sonic game with an even better soundtrack is Sonic and the Black Knight.

WHAT THE FUCK IS A SONIC?
Sure, the gameplay was bad and the story was weird, but then again there was not all that much story in the Sonic Genesis games except save animals, beat Eggman, you know? This time it was merely save princess, beat Solaris, travel back in time so it's not weird for the princess to love a hedgehog. I enjoyed the story, as crazy as it was, especially the Silver part.

I recall having hopes for this game for some odd reason. Most likely wishing that 3D Sonic on the next gen systems would work out. Tried the demo and had to laugh at how bad the few minutes I spent with it were.

For whatever reason Colors struck me as a bit...bland. Technically speaking, it is a better made game than it's immediate predecessors, but it lacked...soul, I guess. It's certainly not a BAD game, but I couldn't really get that into it, either (I had the same reaction with Donkey Kong Country Returns, for comparison). Generations, though, is awesome: the biggest flaw is that it's too short.
Now, all that said, I agree Sonic '06 is not NEARLY as bad as it's made out to be: people tend to think it's "worst game of all time" caliber, and even with all of it's flaws it's nowhere close. I enjoyed it enough to beat it, after all: I always thought 3D Sonic was darn fun despite it's flaws (if they'd just improved the damn camera and stuck with Sonic Adventure gameplay, it would have been fine). I also thought Silver's gameplay was a pretty cool idea, albeit poorly executed.
The story was not the only bad thing about '06 (and, yes, I both own and have beaten it). It's loaded to the brim with glitches, the loading times are atrocious, the overworld is one of the ugliest, most generic places I've ever seen in a video game, the sections where you temporarily play as the sidekicks (Tales, Knuckles, Rouge, etc) suck, and there are some parts that are poorly and rather obnoxiously designed (the silver spheres in Aquatic Base, for instance).

This list of yours could afford to have some more Sonic '06 music on it. The game is god awful but the music is some of the best in the franchise.
The best part of 3D Sonic games? the music. Also if you ever try a 3D Sonic game, go for either Colors or Generations, the ones that finally broke Sonic's curse.

SEGA is notoriously known for having great soundtracks. Also, I have to recommend Sonic Generations in terms of 3D Sonic games. That one pulls it off right.

The soundtrack of 06 is absolutely stunning. It's pretty mediocre at some parts, but when it soars, IT SOARS
Game sucks. Soundtrack is arguably the best though. And thankfully you can save yourself time and money and just buy the soundtrack, skipping the game as a whole.
I'm not a fan of the 3D Sonic games and this one's the worst of them all. I'm pretty sure I'll never touch this game, watching a couple videos was enough. It seems to retain the series' mostly great music though as this is a powerful final boss theme.
