Nuts at the end when Delta says that there will be no Radical-6 outbreak in the final timeline, meaning that mankind will go extinct, but that the participants now are determined to change the future if they shoot him.
@Bigrog1988 I liked ZTD, but when they start shifting everywhere the story got too ridiculous.
I'll agree with that. As little extreme that Delta assumed that all would resonate across all the timelines and end up at the final one. And the stuff with Sigma and Phi got a little out there. But still love the series so much.
@Bigrog1988 I wish we got a better version of ZTD, I hear it wasn't the original script.

@Bigrog1988 Yeah, I'm hoping that if it works out, we can get a ZE4, with hopefully a better ending than ZTD.
The story is over and done. ZE4 would be unnecessary and forced.
Stunning track. A decent game (I love these sorts of games). I just wish they'd tighten things up a bit in terms of the puzzle rooms.

I absolutely love this. It's simple, but sad and creepy at the same time. And I swear part of it makes me feel like things will get better...like even though you're in a dark place now, it won't always be that way. It's hard to describe... I've never heard of this game before listening to this track, but this alone makes me want to seek it out and play it.

Yes! One of my favorite DS games and my favorite track too. This really enhances the emotion of the scene it plays in, so good. Now I just have to go track down the sequel. I've read Ever17 as well, and I can definitely see the similarities in the story- but they're both really good. Since the Infinity series stopped having releases I'm glad the writer found other work, I really enjoy his stories.
Oh definitely, there are some standouts to be sure. It's still a really good soundtrack, I found it just wasn't quite as impactful as 999's soundtrack. Saying that, the Q room music is phenomenal.

Have you played Virtue's Last Reward? The music isn't quite as memorable but it's an excellent follow-up to 999.

It sucks that you played VLR first. I prefer 999, but it is going to seem much more archaic after you've experienced the improvements made by its sequel
I've played VLR and not yet played 999. I'm not sure where to get 999 from, but I'm definitely going to have to buy it soon.
You need to play Zero Escape. They improved the puzzles by a lot, and the story is just as great. You can also jump to practically any place in the story you want to, so solving puzzles multiple times are not mandatory.

Yes. There are many twists and turns. The other people have important stories of their own. I suppose it's a shame you know the main villain as it was a surprise when I played through but it doesn't matter. It's not the villain that is important in a way. It is the current situation in which the characters find themselves in.
Are you planning on playing Virtue's Last Reward at all? It's a very worthy sequel!

I WANT to know the story so bad and I have no spoilers either...but I have to admit I can't stand puzzle games like this. I need to know, if I just grabbed a guide and skipped half the puzzles would it ruin the story experience in anyway? I have a copy but could barely play it because I can't get into the gameplay. Not that I can't solve the puzzles but it doesn't interest me that much and I've actually fallen asleep before.
I heard a spoiler about the game before I played, but I was still blown away. Trust me. No matter how big the spoiler you think you saw was, you hardly know anything. It's worth playing for sure :3

Fantastic game ! It really kept me hooked to keep playing and see what happens next. I even played the beginning to true ending in 1 sitting.
virtue's last reward (the sequel to this game) is just as good as this game, it's not often a series retains its quality like this one did.
The reason why I still have a DS lite is this game.
999 is simply one of the best games for the DS, and horribly underrated. The sequel is awesome too.

Man...I really wish I could go back and play through this game again for the first time. In any media, this game probably has the story that has resonated and enthralled me the most.
Yeah, I love this theme, the digital root one, and the septenary game one.
Also, THIS FREAKIN' SCENE. Not spoiling anything, but this scene has one of the best, and perhaps most powerful, uses of the two screens in any DS game.
I've worked my way through half of the endings, and I wonder if I'm on the right thought train. The game has great character depth! It felt really realistic and gave me dreams at night about the decisions I (could) have made! It's a experience and well crafted game =D
The skipping text was nice, if it wasn't for the fact that you'd have to hold down the B button for 5 minutes straight to skip the introductory text in the main hall. Its sequel, Virtue's Last Reward, fixed this issue by having you just jump to branching parts of the story instead of from the beginning.
Oh god the feels
Many times I'd find myself thinking "Is this a hole in the story?" only for the game to fill it later on, as if the writer knew exactly what I was thinking. All the characters are memorable too. The gameplay is alright with some great puzzles, but it's really all about the story. As a big fan of Shinji Hosoe's work on Xenosaga II, I was pleasantly surprised by his work on this game. Nice balance of relaxing and tense, scary themes.
Got all the endings, what a great absorbing story/intrigue. No spoilers here please. Being able to fast forward through all the text that you've already read during your previous playthroughs made it a lot less tedious, and the True Ending definitely pays off. Such a story should feel convoluted and really hard to follow, but the writing is so superb that it makes sure to give you most of the answers you need.
