Great pick!!! I thought I was the only one to love this song back in school. This version sounds like "Nina's Theme" from Breath of Fire III (Akari Kaida did many of the compositions for that game too).
5 and 6 are decent games. 4 though *shivers.*
MMBN2 and 3 are the best. For me the series died at 4. Only recently played the first one. VERY fun game, and deeply fond memories. Believe it or not, 3 even has a pretty good storyline. Highly recommend :)

Well, technically it is turn based if you take account the item thing with the pause, or not. Dunno ^^ There is one where it is turn based. Similar to FFTactics but you still have the regular gameplay of battle against monsters with the tiles and shit.
This game is so awesome.
this was a quintessential series for me when I was a kid. 2 and 3 were by far the best though and had the best music. In particular, the Heavy Battle theme from 3
In general, the 4th game isn't well liked by fans. 5 and 6, however, help the series get back on track.

The first three Battle Network games were indeed spectacular. Battle Transmission (released on the GameCube as an anniversary celebration) had all the same characters, but was very alien by comparison. I liked it anyway as it's own game. Battle Network 4 was... I'm not sure what, but something about it turned my interest away. Anything after just didn't hold any of the original magic for me. But, give them a fair chance. We all have our own opinions. :)
I love jRPGs in general, I guess this one just didn't do it for me.

That's the problem with RPGs, I guess. You either get reeled in or you don't.
it begins really slow, but after a while the story starts to pick up and the battles become really chalenging!
The gameplay is both a mix of turn-based and real-time, but you can't say the time in which you spend choosing your chips isn't considered a "turn", the battles are based around those.
Those bushes blocking a more direct route to Yai's house always annoyed me.
Oh, the memories...hanging out by the Chip Trader at Higsbys, searching for Jack-In spots around town, NetBattling Dex... ...I need to play these games again now.
I could never get into these games and would always get bored.

This series kind of went downhill once the 4th game came out.

i have only played thru battle network 2, and i really liked it, the most fun i had while playing, for some reason , was farming boss chips, specially from the bosses that randomly appeared in the last stage of the game
These games were huge for a couple of years, then they disappeared. I only played the first four.

Just warning you now, 4 is a major step down from 3 (in my opinion). 5 is different, but I like it. 6 is one of the best in the series.
Not that great a tune in my opinion, but tastes always differ. I love the boss theme from this game, though.
MMBN was in my opinion a hell of an amazing series. Too bad the final games in my opinion were a bit of a slap in the face by distancing the player from the original characters of ACDC Town.
YES! Glad to see this series finally appear, I loved the first 3 with Battle Network 3 being one of my all time favorite games and one of my favorite soundtracks. The sequels have quite a different feel from the first 3. The 4th lacked story and focused more on this tournament setup, the 5th very story driven and focused on Liberation Missions(it's almost like a strategy game), and 6 attempts an entire revamp of everything. But the combat is still great in all the games.
Supra's played 2 and still hasn't added songs like the boss theme from it? To each his own, I guess.

This is the first entry from this series in the list, but I'm actually a very big fan of it. I've only played the first 3, but I'll eventually play the sequels as well. I like how the hometown (and its music theme) is there in all the games, it gives a nice feeling of stability and "home sweet home" everytime you play a new game in the series. Very fun games with an always exciting battle system.
