I wanted to love the game and I did enjoy it to the point where I got stuck on trying to split a waterfall in to so I can reveal the hidden door behind it. This was when I understood from the online community that apparently you need to decipher some gibberish scribble nonsense and then some more crazy puzzles that were never a part of the learning curve through game play and the only way to know what to do is to go online and listen the exclamatory guides. It is like playing chess and all the sudden The opponent laying down a hand of cards exclaiming BlackJack and snatching your queen. The developers could not make up puzzles with the environment of the game so instead they bypassed all that and just placed some absolute travesty of riddles. This is because they failed to understand the mechanics of the game so they had to bypass it with whale secret alphabets and bird poop riddles that only the mad hatter can try to solve if he has enough tea from wild mushrooms. That's what happened when you steel a game mechanic that you don't understand and than bypass it with your own idea that only makes sense to you and no body else

the funny thing is that Jon Blow made harsher comments on the Japanese game industry (modern Japanese games are a shitstain upon art) while Phil clarified his position (modern Japanese games are very samey, relying on the same mechanics and whatnot). At the same conference. Still, that Twitter fiasco is pretty stupid even by Phil Fish standards. That's why I prefer my Polytron reps be Renaud.

why do ppl have to turn into such weaboos? yes, the modern japanese gaming industry is losing ground to western gaming industry, they are stuck in time and if you need proof, look at the lack of good jrpgs in the last 10 years....im not saying there arent any good japanese games now, but it is true that they arent what they used to be

I'm glad to see a lot of the hate for Phil Fish die down, or at least the blind hate for Fez because of Phil. I really love this game, and everyone should give it a chance.

I'm happy that it's coming to other platforms this year. I'm guessing a PC release is very probable. It's also wishful thinking on my part. I always have my gaming laptop with me while my consoles are at different homes...
Man, 2012 was a great year for games in general. Even the re-releases (like P4 Golden) were good.
Cave Story 2 can't possibly be better than the first one.
Fez is a great and a unique game, but Phil Fish is still a dick. His egoistical and arrogant attitude is annoying me. For example when he got an award for his game, he bragged about it on Twitter. Cave Story will still be the best indie game ever made, atleast to me. And with these rumours about Cave Story 2, I'm hoping the sequel will turn out to be a good game, and not a cash grab.

Fez over Journey? Both great games, but i think Journey is a little bit better.

Two Fez uploads close to each other, like with Hotline Miami. Funny how it took inspiration from a couple oldschool platformers but still ended up being the most unique and memorable game I played all year. I wouldn't be surprised in a couple years if I ended up putting Fez at the #1 spot in 2012 (in terms of the games I played so far).
