This game is SO fantastic! Extremely challenging and hits all those RPG spots.
It does have a full character creator, a few races, the usual rpg classes and lots of room for specialization. Want to run an all mage group? You can. How about 2 minotaur bezerkers and their lizardmen friends?
I never ever got disappointed since I subscribed to your channel SupraDarky. Always such nice songs I never would have heard i guess. Reminds my somehow of Okami.

Oh, interesting! I've heard a ton of good things about this game. I just got Chrono Trigger DS last christmas and I love it, but now, I'm definately after Legend of Grimrock. Especially after all the good things I've heard about it, for example, ProJared put it in the #1 spot on his GOTY list. If you're putting this just at #5, I'm really curious to see what your other 5 are going to be.
Great thing about this song is that it has a very clear melody. Makes me wanna track down the sheet music and convert it to my instrument.
Loved Grimrock. I think the only real con is that there's no random dungeon option. I think they could have easily included the option for randomized dungeons, and the only thing they'd have had to have given up is the secret areas, which would be a minor loss in comparison.
I don't think you've played many old school dungeon crawlers. Grimrock is great, don't get me wrong, but it's fairly shallow compared to older games of its ilk.
It's pretty close. It doesn't have as many races/classes but it's plenty deep enough compared to the old school dungeon crawlers. It's also has a pretty good dungeon editor with an active community and quite a few custom dungeons out there already. Someones even working on an Eye of the Beholder remake. I'd highly recommend it if you like first person dungeon crawlers.
There is a default party you can use, but you can make a custom party, choosing combinations of race and class. As characters level up, you can spend points in various proficiencies depending on their class. It's a pretty good game.
LoG is awesome. Such a satisfying gaming experience. Start it on Hard if you dare.
yeah i did, but the one thing i cant really tell is character creation/progression. Is there even creation? In all the videos, everyone was using the same characters
I haven't played Eye of the Beholder, but since it's a dungeon crawler it's probably pretty similar. It took me about 15 hours to finish and I wouldn't say it's especially deep. Checking out a gameplay video on YouTube would probably be wise to get a feel of it.

Damn i saw this game on steam sales so many times but never bought it. I feel like i should have, at least for the OST.
I was curious abut this game myself, but I wasnt sure if it was a deep enough rpg. It looked like Eye of the Beholder. How close to it is that?
If you see this game on Steam cheap, I recommend it. There are a couple puzzles that are too obscure though. As for this theme, the composer actually came up with the melody while driving and recorded himself humming it. I added a link in the description (first 20 seconds or so) because I think it's funny, and because I do that myself quite a lot when composing music. The melody at 2:53 of my track Voyage is an example, I still have the recording!
It's a good thing I like this theme because if I'm correct, this game only has 2 tracks. Legend of Grimrock reminded me why I loved playing old school dungeon RPGs back in the day. There's a big lack of those kind of games now and Grimrock is a big success. Super addictive, I found myself thinking about this game a lot when I wasn't playing it, I wanted to get back into its dark labyrinth, solve its puzzles and battle its monsters. The combat took a bit of time to get used to, I'll admit.
