I like the music based at the genesis version, but I noticed some 8-bit coming through, and that is what I don't like about the genesis version, the SNES makes sense...but fully 16-bit.
zany golf, on either amiga, apple IIGS, or sega. all soundtracks sound cool, apple probably best i think but i like sega since it was the one i played.
man they just made this sega version right, just when you think that the snes is superior to the sega in all ways especially sound quality, the sega has a game like Aladdin and the music just sounds so right for this game coming from the sega. Nice pick Supra i hope you add more songs from this game to your list and to be honest i have been waiting for them.
Had both versions, Genesis was better to me in this case.

I rented this when I was a kid. Really fun game.
I've had this song on the mind recently... I honestly loved playing this game growing up. It's probably why Aladdin is one of my favorite movies ever, and my favorite Disney movie. The soundtrack is just a complete masterpiece. I've seen and played the SNES one once, and it was pretty fun. But the Genesis version was far more enjoyable in my opinion. Ohh, and I'm surprised I managed to get passed this level a few times as a kid, it was absolute hell to go through. Sultan'sPalaceIsWhere I died.

Genesis has always been too 'dark atmosphere' to me. Kinda raw, used to scary me sometimes..

I prefer the SNES version but both were great. No reason not to play both.
I think that when it comes down to it, it depends on what you grew up with with these things. I grew up with the SNES one, so that's the one I'm familiar with, though I definitely prefer the Genesis soundtrack over the SNES one.
Have you checked Amiga version of this theme yet?
Eh, to each his own I guess. I love the animation and level structure of the Genesis but there were some things the SNES version had that the Genesis was deprived of: the 'whole new world' level, an actual ending, and bosses that made sense 'Gazeem...seriously?' The whole sword argument I'll never understand either. It felt sloppy and never suited the character of Aladdin. He uses the sword in the movie for 5 minutes. As for Arab Rock..PC version is more intense.
I know quite a few people who prefer the SNES version, but looking at it now, it does seem like the Genesis version is widely considered to be the best.
This is a good portion of my early childhood. I've literally had this game since I was about 2 years old. That's pretty much when I started gaming. Though I could have done without the nightmares that Jafar used to give me. And the screamer game over for this game didn't help stop them.

I enjoyed the SNES version, but I thought it didn't hold a candle to the Genesis version. The animation was better, you actually wielded a sword and it had this music. It's funny too, at the time Capcom was pretty much the best when it came to creating licensed games (they made the SNES version), but I have to side with Virgin for this one.
