If you really wanna challenge yourself, play this stage first WITHOUT beating Chill Penguin or Storm Eagle first. I did it once and yes it's possible. The cool thing is if you play the stage before Storm Eagle, you don't have to worry about the lights going on and off. And you can beat Spark Mandrill fairly easy with the mega buster and a sub tank.

As far as my knowledge goes, there're no themes from the X series. Unfortunate, really. They could have made some amazing remixes!
I would always beat Chill Penguin first then use his weapon to defeat Spark Mandrill he didn't stand a chance once you froze him!

I'm guessing you didn't fare well against Spark Mandrill then? the guy is insanely hard with absolutely no powerups(near impossible).
Classic is the best series, but X is the best Mega Man game, period. Easily in my Top 20 favorites.
Hold up! For your points, buy Chrono Trigger, and I'm not just saying that due to my insane love of that game. First, CT would be the hardest to achieve otherwise since the DS copy is uncommon, as is PS1, and the SNES cart is quite rare. MMX is an easy fix by getting the MMX Collection on Gamecube or PS2, then you can get X1-6 and a Mega Man kart racer in one. Trust me, you'll save a lot of money and you'll get even more great games this way. But if you have to choose 1 go Chrono.

The first stage I picked when I played this game. This game's a classic thanks to perfected gameplay and great level design, accompanied by a rocking soundtrack. I'm one of those who prefer the 8-bit style Mega Man games (the music included) but I can't deny the X series is also very good.
