+yenk chauvaux +Mrster Amiga, of course. The use and abuse of samples in a tracked music was the trademark of amiga music. It is the frontier of chiptune music. It is no more an ADSR (attack, decay, sustain, release) matter, and nor a midi composition because the sampled sounds are infinitely richer than chiptune (although many musics had also chiptune sounds) or midi (although midi, chiptune and sampled musics have a common point: the tracker.) But there are limitations : size of the file (sometimes, the game and the music must fit in a 3 1/4 disk!), the memory, et caetera. However, Amiga was a beast for his era.
+BixenteFabregas Yeah it has the trademark sounds of it, I just wondered if it was an arcade version or even the PC Engine or something, I wasn' t too sure about those.
+Mrster This is way far different from the arcade version. New compos with fresh ideas, samples and... prog rock.
Classic theme for a classic game
I always thought this track suited level 3 better than the arcade original, because it did give that feeling you were actually moving up towards the skies. Tim Follin is awesome!
Well, the stereo is REALLY annoying, but you can convert it to Mono or Joint Stereo using Audacity and it sounds better.

I actually like it in a headset, at first it was odd however after awhile it really caught on to me.
the music in silver surfer is the only reason to play that game. excellent point. its too bad the music in that game is so good but the game is so abysmally awful that who's going to bother playing it?
Tim couldn't do much about it, with the Amiga hardware the four voices were each hardwired to either the left or right audio channel. I personally quite like it though!

You're completely right...Tim Follin's tracks rarely had anything to do with the games they were in. And if they did, they were such bad games that the soundtrack wouldn't be remembered by that anyway (Silver Surfer comes to mind).

Ok. It's a very "imaginative" song ans stuff but, people tend to forget that these tracks MUST live with the action that is happening in the game. In my opinion, this track has nothing to do with the universe of ghouls n ghosts.

Yeah I have to agree, it's a really cool number, very reminiscent of his work on Plok, but with headphones it's a little painful to listen to.
It sounds similar to the music of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, specifically the underwater dungeons... Calming, kinda like bejewled music, and still has that underwater-caveren-like feel...
Cool song but the stereo is pretty annoying at times.

Tracks like this show me that my taste in music keeps evolving. I'll be honest, I used to not like Tim Follin's compositions that much, even if he's considered to be a legendary composer in the industry. Then I started composing music myself, actually analyzing the tracks I listened to and that's when I understood just how good Follin was with such limited hardware. Tim Follin's tracks are just so complex and imaginative, it makes for something very unique. It's not just about the melodies.
