After Death ...
Darksiders 1 and 2 were brilliant game. When Darksiders 3 was announced i got hyped, hoping this new studio would do well but to say i was disappointed would be an understatement.... Who else wants the original team to make a Darksiders 3 and 4 to finish the four horsemen?
To be honest, I was really disappointed as well. I wish it would happen, but sadly, the original team (Vigil Games) got shut down in 2013. However, there's still a beacon of hope since there's a new company whose founding members are also the founding members of Vigil Games, who are currently making Darksiders Genesis, which actually looks like a promising spin-off.

@Janine Brennan Well THQ went bankrupt. The game sold well, but not to their expectations. They basically had the entire fate of the company riding on this game. A profit, but not the 4 million copy profit they needed. Still, THQ Nordic has the rights now, and the name is rather self-explanatory. Many of the previous game developers are on the team. Still, I doubt they'll ever top D2.
@Straight White Male Darksiders 2 is next to impossible to top. The aesthetics, the game world, the gameplay (the combat is just the best!), the enemy / boss design, the diversity, not to forget the absolutely amazing soundtrack... It is in my top 3 favorite games ever made, along with Red Dead Redemption 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2. While DS3 was not bad, it just didn't manage to hold water to DS2. The boss design was creative, but I really didn't like Fury (in contrast, I *love* Death), and the gameplay seriously lacked diversity imo, and the soundtrack was very forgettable. I still enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, but DS2 will forever occupy the throne of my favorite games.
@Isaac Clyde [PSN: Nightmare-Grand] We have the exact same thoughts on it. Yeah DS2 is just about my favorite game of all time, tied with Dark Souls 3. I can't really add to what you said. It describes it pretty damn well. I'll never forget the feeling of The Forgelands, or entering The Ivory Citadel for the first time. That music alone was just so stellar, and then the combat... Straight up 10/10.
@Straight White Male I agree... honestly, just talking about this really makes me want to replay the game again, it's just phenomenal. And it's also quite sad to see how *underrated* this invaluable gem is.
@Isaac Clyde [PSN: Nightmare-Grand] Yeah it is. It should be up there with God of War and such as a game series, if only because of DS2. So glad I pre ordered the Blades & Whips edition for DS3. I got the DS1 Warmastered and DS2 Deathinitive editions alongside it, plus I'm happy to support the devs. Now I can enjoy the DS2 remaster whenever I like, and honestly, it remains one of the best games ever made even seven years later. Thanks to its unique artsyle, it is timeless.
@Straight White Male I completely agree with you. I got DS2 Deathinitive Edition for free because it was the headliner of the December 2017 PS+ games, but that's one of the few games where I still went ahead and bought the physical edition, to support the devs but also because I'm a collector. I still have yet to get the Warmastered edition of the first game, though.
@Isaac Clyde [PSN: Nightmare-Grand] All I can say to that is; Warmastered is a great remaster. Definitely worth getting.

the studios closed their doors after the second, but the studio holding the sold copyrights said to wait for the third game after two years or so.
I had similar luck, I bought darksiders for a bargain in Steam, but I decided to get the darksiders II in february as it was still pricey, but then, next wednesday I found Darksiders II for 75% off.
the second happens at same time as the first, while the events of the first happen, Death is in his own quest.
well, the creators said that making the third game is not their priority, BUT! the tales of the four horsemen are NOT finished

I bought this game a few days ago and I'm loving it, the art direction the soundtrack the design... I'm in love with it and this is one of my favourites themes

yes of course, as you know there are the 4 horsemen.... in the first you are playing as War, and in this one you are playing as Death in order to prove War's innocence due to what claims are against him from the first game.....don't wanna spoil too much, but the first game is just as good, if not better....i recommend you play it

the correct title would be Plains of Death, not the Death Plains. You see: there's 1. The Dead Plains and 2. Plains of Death. This is Plains of Death

i think castlevania lord of shadows is a much better game, and is no where near as repetitive as darksiders 1 &2

Go for sleeping dogs, then pick up darksiders 2 for cheap. Sleeping dogs has around 20+ hours of gameplay i hear.

It's not always a bad thing. Like I said, the bigger reason is #2. That said, it's also a nitpick pet peeve of mine. I don't mind getting ideas and then melding them into your own play style, but from what I played of the first(roughly 5 hours)it copied others almost to a point of video game plagarism. At least it felt that way to me. At least I can happily say though unlike certain games, when this one derives from others, it takes the good points.

I don't understand why people are picking on this game for deriving from other games. As much as I hate kotaku, they recently made an article on this game about how it really isn't a bad thing if the game can execute these concepts and do them well.
I feel the same way, though I haven't played MK7 yet.

Seems like it has a lot of good going for it, though I must say it's hard for me to get into for 2 reasons. 1.) There's no denying it gets an insane amount of ideas from other games gameplay wise. 2.) The bigger reason, I have one of those "friends"(person who hangs out with you despite no one inviting) whom once he likes a game, he never stops talking about it, to the point you actually start to dislike it simply because it makes you think of your "friend", who is obsessed with these.

I can't wait to play this game, I loved the first one and this looks even better. The addition of loot is a very nice feature. This series has such an awesome artstyle. It makes me sad that this might be the last we see from it. This track stood out when I checked out the soundtrack, it's not melody intensive but I'm really liking the feel Kyd went for.
