Super Mario Sunshine was pretty intense. Galaxy not so much
We need a darker Mario game. Perhaps even T for Teen. Not something gory or bloody, but melancholic and intense. This game really stuck to me because I feel it's more sinister and epic than recent Mario games.

Yeah I love Galaxy too (More than Mario 64 even), but I want an open world game like this, or a better example, something like Banjo-Kazooie, but with Mario, that would be amazing!

The 1st game I ever 100%ed. I was excited by the unlockables at the end. Even though they were rather small things, they made you feel so special for getting to use them, same way as Starfox 64's 100% unlockable

Know what this game had (that made it such a better game btw) which others didn't? When you won the game, there was still tons more to do. I wish every one of those too-easy games, and even the games that are really good, had a reason for you to keep playing, even after you won. Like Chrono Trigger, for example. And, even once you found everything, there needs to be a secret area that you can get addicted to, like in Kirby Superstar Ultra, the Helper to Hero arena. (Still playing it today :3)

There haven't been games like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine on a home console with a gamecube-like controller in 10 years. Really cool how Nintendo might just bring that style back.

Honestly, Mario 64 isn't my favorite. I think that spot belongs to Super Mario World. But Mario 64 is probably one of the best.
I know what you mean. The first time you played SM64 and you had all these opend world. How awesome was that? And Rare picked up this level design and made it even better with Banjo Kazooie. I would die to see a new Mario, Banjo or DK with big worlds as levels - Mazzle

Well this one's a classic. As much as I loved the Galaxy series, I'd like a new 3D Mario game inspired by this game. The Galaxy games are constant rollercoasters of fun but I really enjoyed this game's more open worlds where you ended up basically knowing them like the back of your hand. I can't wait to see where the next 3D Mario on the Wii U will be heading. Super Mario Universe ?
